LEGO Star Wars advent calendar 2026 compared with City and Friends

LEGO’s 2026 range has five advent calendars and, after seven years in a row, no Harry Potter one. Here is what each one holds, door by door, and which suits which child.

LEGO’s 2026 range has five advent calendars: Star Wars, Marvel, Disney Princess, City and Friends. Harry Potter, which had a calendar every year from 2019 to 2025, is not in the line-up, and LEGO.com lists no Minecraft calendar either. Here is how the five compare on the numbers that matter at the door: pieces, age rating, figures, and what the box does once all 24 doors are open.

All five boxes measure 38.2 x 26.2 x 7.1 cm, so they take the same space on a shelf or a mantelpiece. The differences are in the piece count, the age on the box and the cast.

Marvel gives the most bricks and Friends the fewest, a gap of about four pieces a day. City and Friends are LEGO’s own themes and sit in its lower price band; Star Wars, Marvel and Disney are licensed and cost more at LEGO’s recommended price. LEGO Star Wars advent calendar 2026 (75456)

The 2026 Star Wars calendar is built around The Mandalorian. The Mandalorian, Moff Gideon and Grogu come in Christmas jumpers, joined by Carson Teva, a Jawa, an IG-11 droid figure and Pit Droid figures in festive colours. At 293 pieces it sits almost exactly on the average of the 16 Star Wars calendars LEGO has released since 2011, which is 295 pieces.

  • Vehicles: Mando’s N-1 starfighter, the Razor Crest, a speeder bike, a Sandcrawler, an Outland TIE fighter, an Imperial light cruiser and an X-wing in Christmas colours.
  • Creatures: a Mudhorn, a Bantha, a Dewback and a Blurrg.
  • Accessories: three tables with beskar, gifts and Moff Gideon’s kit, a weapons rack, a Mandalorian gauntlet and Grogu’s hoverpram.

With about 12 pieces behind each door, the ships are micro builds for the shelf rather than toys to fly round the room. The draw is the cast: the main characters of the series, dressed for Christmas.

Every LEGO Star Wars advent calendar since 2011

LEGO has released one Star Wars calendar a year since 2011, each with its own set number, which is the quickest way to tell editions apart when buying second-hand. Piece counts have stayed between 234 and 368.

The 2024 calendar retraced 25 years of LEGO Star Wars sets, from 1999 to 2024, with Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Ahsoka Tano. The 2025 one was built around droids, with C-3PO, Babu Frik, a Jawa and droids such as BB-8.

LEGO City advent calendar 2026 (60510)

City is the most Christmassy of the five. The cast is Santa, Mrs Claus, three elves and a snowman, plus a baby reindeer. It is rated 5+, like Disney, and the building steps for each surprise are printed on the inside of its door, so a young builder needs no booklet.

The box folds out into a playmat of Santa’s workshop, which gives the 24 builds somewhere to live after Christmas Eve. At about 10 pieces a door, each build fits into a school-morning routine.

LEGO Friends advent calendar 2026 (42698)

Friends has three mini-dolls, Nova, Liann and Aliya, and six animals: a seal, a pony, a weasel, a polar bear, a penguin and a bunny. The scenes follow a winter holiday, from snowball fights and sleigh rides to hot chocolate and a snowman, with hats, gifts, biscuits and marshmallows for toasting.

At 211 pieces it is the smallest of the five, just under 9 pieces a door, and it is rated 6+. It suits a child who plays out stories with figures and animals more than one who wants to build vehicles.

Is there a LEGO Harry Potter advent calendar in 2026?

No. LEGO released a Harry Potter calendar every year from 2019 to 2025, seven in all, and none is part of the 2026 range. The last one is set 76456, with 278 pieces.

A sealed 2025 Harry Potter calendar still works this year, because LEGO calendar doors are numbered 1 to 24 rather than dated. Earlier Harry Potter editions appear in our LEGO and toy advent calendar collection while stock lasts; check the set number on the box so you know which year you are paying for.

Marvel and Disney: the other two 2026 calendars

Marvel returns in 2026 with the highest piece count, 317, and six minifigures: Spider-Man, Iron Man, Doctor Doom, Ghost-Spider, Captain America and Wolverine. The builds give the heroes a Christmas job: a snowball cannon, a photo booth and an X-Jet-themed sleigh, with a helicopter, a plane, a car and a truck.

The Disney Princess calendar swaps minifigures for four micro-dolls, Ariel, Cinderella, Moana and Mulan, with Gus, Mushu, Pua and Sebastian. Builds include a gingerbread castle, a piano and a campfire with a marshmallow, and the box turns into a board game for up to eight players with a buildable spinner.

Which LEGO advent calendar should you buy?

  • A five-year-old’s first LEGO calendar: City or Disney, the only two rated 5+.
  • A fan of The Mandalorian: Star Wars, the only one with Grogu and the Razor Crest.
  • The most building: Marvel, with 317 pieces, about 13 a day.
  • Animals and role play: Friends, with six animals and three mini-dolls.
  • Siblings who share: Disney, whose box becomes a game for up to eight players.
  • A Christmas scene to keep on display: City, whose box opens into Santa’s workshop.

If none of the five fits, our guide to the best advent calendars compares chocolate, toy and grown-up options, and the full advent calendars collection has every theme in one place.

Is a LEGO advent calendar worth it?

It depends on what the child wants. A LEGO calendar gives 24 small surprises, with an average of 9 to 13 pieces a door; a boxed set at a similar price gives one bigger model. The calendar wins on the daily routine and on figures in Christmas outfits, the boxed set on play value for a child who wants one big toy.

Tip

Keep a small tray or a lidded tub next to the calendar. Twenty-four micro builds shed pieces fast, and on Christmas Eve everything can go back into one bag inside the empty box for next year.

Every LEGO calendar contains small parts, whatever the age on the box, so keep it out of reach of children under three. On a tighter budget, our list of cheap advent calendars covers chocolate and toy calendars that cost less than a licensed LEGO one.

When to buy, and do LEGO advent calendars sell out?

LEGO sells each calendar for one season. The Star Wars calendars of 2023, 2024 and 2025 were all launched on 1 September and retired on 31 December, and the Harry Potter calendars of those years kept the same dates. A popular theme can run short at some shops in the weeks before Advent Sunday, which falls on 29 November in 2026.

  • Order by mid-November if the calendar has to be ready for 1 December, a Tuesday this year.
  • A calendar bought late still works: open the missed doors on the first day, then carry on one a day.
  • If the LEGO calendar you wanted is gone, the advent calendar shop has toy, chocolate and kids advent calendars that start on the same date.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a LEGO Star Wars advent calendar for 2026?

Yes. Set 75456 is listed on LEGO.com with 293 pieces and a 6+ age rating. It is themed on The Mandalorian and is the 16th Star Wars calendar in a run that started in 2011.

What LEGO advent calendars are out in 2026?

There are five: Star Wars (75456), Marvel (76340), Disney Princess (43298), City (60510) and Friends (42698). LEGO.com lists no Harry Potter or Minecraft calendar for 2026.

Which is the best LEGO advent calendar?

There is no single winner. Marvel has the most pieces (317), City and Disney are the only ones rated 5+, and Star Wars has the strongest cast for fans of The Mandalorian. Pick the theme the child already plays with.

Is the LEGO advent calendar worth it?

For a child who likes a daily ritual and collecting figures, yes: 24 short builds and a cast in Christmas outfits. For a child who wants one big model to play with, a standard boxed set is the better buy.

Do LEGO advent calendars sell out?

Each calendar is sold for one season only: the Star Wars and Harry Potter calendars of recent years were retired on 31 December. A popular theme can run low at some shops before Christmas, so ordering by mid-November is the safe option.

What is the 2026 LEGO Christmas set?

LEGO’s 2026 addition to its Winter Village Collection is 11387 Holiday House: 1,354 pieces, four minifigures and an 18+ rating. It has a house with a wrap-around porch, a horse-drawn sleigh and a Christmas tree lit by a light brick. Check LEGO.com for its UK release date and stock.

Is there a LEGO Star Wars advent calendar for adults?

No. The Star Wars calendar is rated 6+, although nothing stops an adult fan buying it for the figures. For a Christmas build rated 18+, LEGO’s 2026 Winter Village set, the Holiday House (11387), is the obvious alternative.

Will there be a LEGO Star Wars advent calendar in 2027?

LEGO’s advent calendar page lists only the 2026 sets for now. It has released a Star Wars calendar every year since 2011, and recent editions were launched on 1 September, so a 2027 calendar would most likely follow the same timing.
