Christmas cushions: covers in sets of 2, 4 and 6

Christmas cushions: covers, pads and sizes

Nearly every listing here is a cover, not a cushion. The sets hold 2, 4 or 6 covers closed with a zip, and the listings sell the covers only, so the pads are a separate purchase: 45 x 45 cm for a 45 x 45 cm cover, or a size up if you want a fuller cushion.

The standard size is 45 x 45 cm (18 x 18 inches). The exception is a cuddle cushion with arms and a fleece back, which comes filled and measures 73 x 49 x 40 cm.

Covers on pads you already own cost less than new cushions and fold flat for storage, so the same set can come out every December.

Choosing Christmas cushion covers

Designs and colours

Designs run from pine trees, bows and reindeer to snowmen, snowflakes, gingerbread and dogs, and one set uses characters from a film. Colours are red, grey, white, pink, green and blue. To match a bed, see Christmas bedding, which comes in the same colours.

Price per cover

Most four-packs work out at £1.50 to £3 a cover. Divide the price by the number of covers before you compare a set of two with a set of four, because a smaller set is not always cheaper per cover.

Throws and blankets

The listings here are cushion covers and one cuddle cushion, and throws and blankets are not among them. For a soft layer on the sofa, the velvet and short plush covers are the nearest option in this grid.

Where they go

Odd numbers look natural, so three or five cushions on a sofa is a common choice, and a set of four or six covers leaves the rest for an armchair or the bed. The full range for beds, kitchens and windows is in Christmas home decor. Our Christmas living room decorating ideas put cushions together with the tree, the mantelpiece and the shelves.
