Unpainted pine Christmas Eve box with hinged lid, 30 x 20 x 14 cm

About this product

This box is made of solid pine with a 3 mm plywood base and walls about 1 cm thick, and the listing says it is not MDF. Two gold-coloured metal hinges hold the lid. The size is given as 30 x 20 x 14 cm.

The wood is unpainted, so it can be painted, stained, stencilled or engraved to carry a child’s name, and the listing says the inside may look slightly more raw. It has no water resistance. After Christmas it can be used as a keepsake box for cards and photos. It scores 4.5 out of 5 from 51 Amazon reviews.

What to use it for

Filled on Christmas Eve with pyjamas, a book, hot chocolate and treats, as the listing suggests, then kept as a memory box for cards, photos and keepsakes.

Care and safety

A dry cloth is enough to clean the pine, which should stay away from damp. Any paint or stain added later needs to dry fully before the box is filled.
